Explore Nature at the Audubon Naturalist Society

Woodend Nature Society is a peaceful 40-acre oasis for everyone from experienced nature lovers to new explorers! Come enjoy the serenity of the wildflower meadows, walk the meandering woodland trails, visit the native plant gardens, and explore the aquatic life of the pond. The sanctuary is free and open to the public every day of the year from dawn to dusk. 

There are several events taking place at the Audubon Naturalist Society throughout September! 

Sept 3- Family Walk in The Woods. Join in a leisurely walk through the habitats at Woodend. 

Sept 10- Saturday Morning Bird Walk & Native Plant Gardens of Woodend. Learn the basics of birding and/or explore all the native garden plants Woodend has to offer. 

Sept 16- Notable Trees of Woodend. Learn how to identify trees and where they would be in the wild. 

Sept 18- Forest Bathing with Ana. A form of therapy, slow down, unwind, and connect to the natural world. 

Sept 23- Natural Habitats of Woodend. Explore the meadows, forests, and streams at the Woodend. 

Admission is free, and trails are open daily from dusk to dawn. Located incredibly close to the apartments at The Barrett at Chevy Chase, at 8940 Jones Mill Road, Chevy Chase, MD 20815.
